This study explores the implementation of the Reused Material Microscope (RMS) in practical science classes in secondary schools in Praia, Cape Verde, and its impact on teaching in resource-limited contexts. Using questionnaire surveys, interviews and free observation, the research collected data from teachers (n=24) and students (n=50), revealing broad acceptance and satisfaction with the MMR, praised for its affordability, simplicity and potential to make lessons more attractive and inclusive. Most of the students expressed an interest in producing the MMR for use in their schools, indicating a high potential for adoption. The teachers emphasised that the training brought them new and effective methods for practical science teaching. The testimonies indicate that the MMR meets a demand for accessible tools, promoting scientific teaching that values social responsibility and sustainability, in line with the vision of an emancipatory and ethical science. We conclude that the MMR represents a viable and innovative strategy for enriching science education in Cape Verde.
